Come Alive

Heart absent of rhythm or beat.
Lungs that knew no breath.
Eyes that knew no light.
Veins dry as bone,
Bone dry as dust.
Stillborn I came,
And I lived the corpse dream.
But life I could not conjure,
And rotting flesh I could not purge.

Before me appeared a pierced man,
Bleeding himself for my gain.
Coursing though, Holy liquid fire
Swept away ashy bone and vein.
Gone was the drought within.
Drumming its first beat,
My heart took up a rhythm of praise.
Then surged in this being called Breath,
Giving me a command and a name.
"Beloved," he cried...

"Come alive!"

Resurrect Again

Rattle the cage LORD, awaken the slumbering.
Rekindle the flame within,
May your Spirit be an inferno.
Give hope to those chained in the prison of flesh;
Raise the dead again.
This day,
This moment,
This beautiful mess,
Is Yours.

The Beginning in Reverse

May what I write be not to please anyone other than the One who is my God and my King. May words of the flesh be swallowed up by the pit from where they came, and the words of Truth, Justice, Grace and Love find fertile soil in the minds of all who seek them.

I was dead. Now I am alive.

Christians, those of you who proclaim that your flesh, your natural state was crucified with Christ… ARE YOU NOT IN AWE!?

Atheists, agnostics, deists, cynics, believers of something or nothing… ARE YOU NOT CONFUSED or CURIOUS!?

Who could not be blown away, befuddled, and left breathless by those seven words?

I am talking about death to life people, DEATH to LIFE. As in, death is where we start, hopefully not where we stay, and life is our purpose.

There is no reason for a corpse to come alive or a way to make it so. Such an idea is explained away as science fiction, only credible enough to be spun into fantastical tales of Frankenstein’s monster, brain-thirsty zombies, and the general "undead."

No matter how many differing scientific opinions, hypotheses, and theories exist; science agrees upon at least one thing: anything that lives dies.

I was alive. Now I am dead. This makes sense.

I was dead. Now I am alive. This is absurd, impossible, beyond natural process! It is supernatural, therefore incredulous.

But it is the TRUTH.

Physically I have never died. But before my relationship with Jesus Christ, I NEVER lived.

Friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, fellow humanity… please attempt to grasp this: from conception we were DEAD.

Our natural state is the corruption of sin; equaling a notarized, eternal death warrant. If left on our own the result is bleak and simple: zombie-like existence on earth, physical death, and eternal damnation. Uhhh...

Were we originally intended for death?  I don’t believe so. But is this death our reality? Yes.

Now what? I am establishing an incredibly morbid foundation of life based on a statement that humanity is born dead. I would laugh were the Truth to be taken lightly.

I leave you this dark reality to reflect upon and tough subjects to grapple with, but there is much more to be said and promises in which hope is found.

I will return to expound upon my statements next week, if not sooner. Do not take my word as gospel, read the divine Word and seek his Truth.
  • ·         Isaiah 59
  • ·         1 Corinthians 15:22 “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.” (NIV)
  • ·         Ephesians 2:1-10 “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not of yourselves, it is a gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (NIV)

Reason to Return

Introduction:

Wondering where to begin on a blog entitled "Back to the Beginning" is glaringly ironic. Yet, I don't want this blog to be about me, but about God's work in the life of a failure, seen through my eyes.

May the words on this site be inspired by the Spirit who resides within me, sustaining my very breath. May those who read the words find Truth, whether that be in the form of encouragement, conviction, hope, love, discipline, or simply a different perspective.

I want to make it very clear that I do not have all the answers, but ask your questions. I am just a woman, but I seek the Triune God. He is Elohim, Adonai, Yeshua, Yahweh. He is my Master, Lord and King.

May he be honored, glorified and exalted in all things.
Why should we go back?
A quote from "The Princess Bride"

Inigo: I am waiting for you, Vizzini. You told me to go back
to the beginning. So I have. This is where I am, and
this is where I will stay. I will not be moved.
Assistant Brute:
            Ho there!
Inigo: I do not budge. Keep your "Ho there".
Assistant Brute:
            But the prince gave orders.
Inigo: So did Vizzini. When the job went wrong he went back
to the beginning. Well, this is where we got the
job, so it's the beginning. And I am staying till
            Vizzini come.

Consider these comical, yet stubborn words of Inigo, a man bent upon his purpose (to avenge his father's murder) but without direction for his next step. So, he went back to the beginning to await the one with the plan.

Members of the Christian Church find ourselves pinned with a reputation of hypocrisy and falsehood. As this behavior shames the name of the God we proclaim, a change in the body's current course is necessary. We need to go back to the beginning, to the moment when we knew the identity of Christ as Savior and Redeemer - the moment we chose to live with a purpose beyond ourselves, setting our sight on the King rather than our earthly desires. Let us return to the place we were called and await the Director of our steps.

This is also for those who do not believe as I do. You hate that "Christians" pass judgement on your political views, religion, sexual orientation, gender, etc. This is not a site to justify and support that judgmental attitude, but to demand change. So I ask that you look beyond the stereotype of "Christian," and let me define for you the belief I have, and point out our common ground. I am just as much flesh and blood, human, as you - no more and no less. You are welcome to ask questions, make statements, and draw your own conclusions.

I Have Not Yet Begun

There are too many ways to begin,
but the necessary words are not within.
So, for now, I leave this created site,
for my heart and mind's respite.
Tomorrow I will return to start anew,
to share my forsaken Lord with you.
